"Craftsy" Course Review and a Special Discount for YOU!

Have you tried CRAFTSY yet??? !!!

Craftsy offers online classes for crafts such as quilting, crocheting, paper crafts, jewelry and

The classes are all taught by well-known cake artists, such as Anne Heap, Marina Sousa, James Rosselle and Collette Peters, just to name a few.

I just took the online class, "Cake Topper Techniques, Figure Modeling"
by theeee Anne Heap from Pink Cake Box!
Anne is an amazing cake artist and I have followed her work for years!!
I jumped at the chance to take her class and she didn't disappoint....

Anne takes you through, step by step how to make 4 different gumpaste figures-
baby in a peapod
sitting boy
sitting pregnant lady
standing lady
All of the materials and tools are listed in the course material list so you can gather them and have them ready before you get started.  Anne covers everything from coloring the gumpaste, to sculpting the bodies, heads and limbs, to how to make "glue", how to secure the limbs and a really fun section on how to make hair!   She slowly walks you through each step so there is enough time for you to follow along with her and make your own figures.  She really explains every detail so even if you are a novice you can easily follow along!

I've always avoided  making figures and characters, especially using gumpaste, but I've learned so much from Anne's tutorial.  Armed with a little confidence, this is what I came up with....

What do you think?

The peapod "branches" and "tendrils" are made from floral wire and tape... I think I need a little more practice with them.  Make sure your floral wire is sticky...mine was not, so they wouldn't hold their spiral shape.

So here's the best part... Craftsy.com has generously offered a special discount to The Baking Sheet fans!  Just register for Anne Heap's "Cake Topper Techniques" class through this link and receive 50% OFF!!
(This is valid one time, per user.)

I have also taken Marina Sousa's class, "Advanced Fondant Techniques" which was excellent!  I highly recommend both of these classes!

Happy Baking!
